Gurudwara Shri Barth Sahib, located in Barth Village, just 11kms from Pathankot, holds a special place in Sikh history. It's where Baba Shri Chand Ji, the son of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, spent a lot of time meditating.
Legend has it that Baba Kamlya Ji, a disciple of Baba Shri Chand Ji, visited Amritsar and was warmly welcomed by Shri Guru Ramdas Sahab Ji. Later, Baba Shri Chand Ji invited Shri Guru Arjan Dev Ji to Barth, where Guru Sahib patiently waited for Baba Ji to finish his meditation.
Guru Sahib even stayed nearby for six months, showing great respect. When Baba Shri Chand Ji finally finished meditating, Guru Sahib had discussions with him.
It's said that even Shri Guru Hargobind Sahib visited the Gurudwara to meet Baba Shri Chand Ji. Baba Ji asked Guru Sahib if he should follow his teachings or if Guru Sahib would send one of his sons to learn from him. Guru Sahib asked Baba Gurditta Ji to stay and follow Baba Shri Chand Ji's teachings.
To support the followers, Baba Ji got a well dug, which is now surrounded by the beautiful Sarovar Sahib.
